Viera's Fall Openings Are Mostly Errand Stops, Led by a Fourth Publix on Murrell Road

October 22, 2026

Where will this year's Thanksgiving grocery run happen? For part of Viera, it may be a store that's still under construction. Viera Voice reported on October 1 that Brevard County's newest Publix "should be welcoming shoppers just in time for Thanksgiving." The store anchors Viera Promenade, a plaza going up at the northeast corner of Murrell Road and Berglund Lane, just south of Viera Boulevard.

Summer in Viera was about evenings. Lakeside Social opened at Viera Town Center in late August with waterfront dining, bars and live music. The projects lined up for this fall are a different kind of addition. They're a grocery store, a liquor store, a pharmacy, two walk-in clinics, a takeout counter, a nail salon, a Pilates studio and a children's hair salon. Most of them are clustered in south Viera, on Murrell Road and at the corner of Stadium Parkway and Pineda Boulevard. Taken together, they mean a lot of weekday errands won't need a drive to Wickham Road or up Stadium Parkway.

Viera Promenade, Store by Store

The plaza is small, and each tenant fills a specific need. Here's how the tenants break down by size, according to Dylan Silverman, a senior associate with Orlando-based Crossman & Company, as reported by Viera Voice:

Tenant Size What it is
Publix Super Market 50,325 sq. ft. Full grocery anchor with bakery and deli
Publix Liquors 2,100 sq. ft. Liquor store next to the supermarket
Sergio's Tacos 1,200 sq. ft. Mexican restaurant
Pigtails & Crewcuts 1,200 sq. ft. Children's hair salon
Outparcel 2.1 acres Tenant not yet announced

The plaza will also have an outdoor seating area.

Inside the supermarket, Publix plans grocery, dairy, frozen food, seafood, meat and produce departments, plus a full-service bakery and deli. The detail that sets this store apart is upstairs. "The store will feature an upstairs seating area for customers to stop and enjoy their favorite Publix finds," Lindsey Willis, media relations manager for Lakeland-based Publix, told Viera Voice.

Sergio's Tacos is a return. The restaurant served Mexican food from the Mobil station at 5470 Murrell Road from 2015 to 2019. That means it's coming back to the same road after about seven years away. It currently has Brevard locations in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach and Titusville.

Pigtails & Crewcuts is new to the county. The Atlanta-based chain, founded in 2003, is opening its first Brevard franchise here. It will be the company's 87th location across 25 states.

Where the Fourth Store Fits Among the First Three

Publix has 27 stores in Brevard. Three are in the Viera-Suntree area, and Viera Promenade becomes the fourth.

Store Address Corridor
Publix at Suntree Square 7777 N. Wickham Road Wickham Road
Publix at Stadium Corners at Viera 5380 Stadium Parkway, No. 100 Stadium Parkway
Publix at Addison Center at Viera 7655 Stadium Parkway Stadium Parkway, opened April 2024
Publix at Viera Promenade Murrell Road and Berglund Lane Murrell Road, under construction

The table shows two things. Two of the three existing stores sit on Stadium Parkway, and the third is on Wickham Road, which makes Viera Promenade the only one of the four on Murrell Road. Counting Addison Center, which opened in April 2024, the Viera-Suntree area will have added two Publix stores in about two and a half years.

The plaza's leasing firm identifies the store as Publix #2089 and lists its location as the northeast corner of Murrell Road and Berglund Lane, Melbourne, FL 32940. No street number has been published yet.

The Opening Date Is Still an Estimate

The headline says early November, but the sources don't all agree on a date.

Viera Voice reported that the supermarket is "scheduled to open during the first week of November," based on what the leasing firm told the paper. The leasing firm's own property page lists an "Expected Opening Date" of October 2026. The tie-breaker should be Publix's New Store Openings list, where the company posts exact dates for upcoming stores. As of mid-October, it showed stores opening October 22 in Bradenton, November 4 in Wesley Chapel, N.C., and November 5 at Merchants Crossing in Englewood. It didn't list Viera Promenade yet.

Publix already lists exact dates for stores opening the same week Viera Promenade is expected. Until the Viera store shows up on that list, "first week of November" is a reported target, not a date Publix has announced. The newsroom list is the page to check. No store hours, pharmacy details or grand-opening plans have been published for this location, and the other tenants haven't announced individual opening dates.

Stadium Square Adds the Same Kind of Stores at Pineda

The second plaza fills the southern end of Viera the same way the first does, with everyday stops. The Viera Company reported on September 8 that Stadium Square was under construction at the southwest corner of Stadium Parkway and Pineda Boulevard. General contractor W+J Construction described it as a built-to-suit strip center with seven units, five of them already leased. Viera Voice gives the address as 2903 Sodore Way.

The five announced tenants:

  • Makoto's To Go, takeout and delivery from the team behind Makoto's Japanese Steakhouse
  • MedFast Urgent Care, a walk-in clinic
  • The Viera Chemist, a pharmacy
  • Xi Nails, a nail salon
  • JetSet Pilates, 50-minute reformer classes

Makoto's To Go is the one with a target date. Viera Voice reported that the owner was aiming for a November opening. It will be the restaurant team's first takeout location, a 2,002-square-foot space for takeout and delivery with some indoor tables. The Viera Company put it simply: "The chefs won't be putting on a show." The new spot serves hibachi from a flat-top grill for people in a hurry, while the original Makoto's stays at 785 South Babcock Street in Melbourne.

Put the two plazas side by side and they follow the same pattern. Each has a food option built for speed, a personal-care service, and something you'd normally drive farther for. Viera Promenade has the grocery store. Stadium Square has the pharmacy and urgent care.

Murrell Road Gets Walk-In Care Too

The errand list on Murrell Road keeps growing. Centra Care Viera, a walk-in urgent care clinic for adults and children, is under construction at 5390 Murrell Road. Viera Voice reported that it plans to open "later this year." No specific date has followed since that August 3 update.

With MedFast at Stadium Square, that's two new walk-in clinics in south Viera this season. Together with The Viera Chemist and the Viera Promenade Publix, the area is adding the kind of everyday stops you don't plan a day around.

The Rest of Viera's Pipeline

Not every opening this fall is an errand stop. The ones that aren't are the least certain on timing.

Project Location Latest reported timing Status as last reported
Escapology Viera Next to The Avenue Viera "Late October," per Viera Voice on July 1 Still marked "Coming Soon"
Centra Care Viera 5390 Murrell Road "Later this year," per Viera Voice update of Aug. 3 Under construction
Makoto's To Go Stadium Square, 2903 Sodore Way Aiming for November Under construction as of Sept. 8
Tiki Docks Bar & Grill Viera Boulevard and Lake Andrew Drive, Borrows West Early 2027 In development

Escapology Viera is a 4,815-square-foot, steampunk-themed escape-room venue with nine planned rooms. Its late-October target came from a July report, and The Avenue Viera still lists it as "Coming Soon." The next big dining project after that is Tiki Docks. The Viera Company describes it as a 9,300-square-foot lakefront restaurant in Borrows West, scheduled to open in early 2027.

That leaves the grocery store as the opening most likely to change people's routines before the holidays. It has the biggest footprint and the most specific reported date, but no official confirmation yet. When Publix #2089 appears on the company's New Store Openings page, the Murrell Road plaza will have a confirmed opening date.
